Live at Hospitality Design 2022 Las Vegas

Day two of the Hopsitality Design 2022 show in Las Vegas has been an upbeat and fun experience. After a 2 year hiatus from seeing our clients and friends it has been a treat to see the industry alive and kicking again.

Day two of the Hopsitality Design 2022 show in Las Vegas has been an upbeat and fun experience.  After a 2 year hiatus from seeing our clients and friends it has been a treat to see the industry alive and kicking again. The show was previously 250,000 square feet in 2019 and has scaled down a bit to just over 125,000. In my opinion I think it is an improvement and it is a better show as a smaller venue.  After doing the show for more than 30 years now I have seen it go from a tiny show to a behemoth.  It seems like the show kept growing larger and larger with the same amount of attendees, the industry is only so large and I don't think you can stretch 5000 to 7000 attendees over 250,000 square feet.  From what I could tell the attendees were exhausted trying to cover that square footage in the past and as an exhibitor you just kind of get lost.  So let's hope it stays this size, it is just right.

The biggest change I could tell was the demographics of the attendees, previously the show was composed of regional design firms, many from Southern California, this year was a big turn out from Florida, Texas and Colorado.  I can assume with all of the recent population movement these are the states that are on the move and seeing active investment. Another interesting observation was the type of attendee, almost 50% were other than designers, we spoke to many developers and owner operators.

As day 3 comes to an end at the show, always the most quiet, we are wrapping up our Las Vegas experience.  We are reenergized and positive about the year and looking forward to seeing our East Coast clients at Boutique Design New York later this year.
